Quilts #12-14 were completed before Christmas, but were commissioned as gifts so I couldn’t share until now. Quilt #14 was made for an adult Mississippi State University fan. With such as limited color pallet, this quilt was easily the most difficult to layout. There were not enough colors to do a “random” layout, but a pattern would be difficult to read, too. I ended up going with a diagonal pattern of maroon/gray & maroon/white.
Again, I went with a pointed diamond border, and quilted 1/4 inch on either side of the seams. This quilt puffed and puckered nicely, making for a real “snuggly” lap quilt. (totally a technical term).
Like the others in this series (quilts 12, 13, & 14), I backed the quilt with corresponding chevron fabric and leftover prints from the front. It’s a bit hard to see, but the large stripe has logo-ed diamonds in the maroon piecing.
I am so not a sports fan. And this is so not a quilt I would typically do, but I am pleased with how it turned out: I feel like it’s a calmer, more understated “fan” quilt. There’s enough solids mixed in with the prints that it doesn’t become overwhelming, but it still fits the theme nicely.
Overall this brings me to 15 quilts blogged and 11 to go. Happy Quilting!
